El Surayya Art: Legacy in Islamic Wood Carving

Our History

In 1965, Jepara-born artist H.A. Mudzakir pioneered a new style of Islamic wood carving. He introduced the “ribbon-fold technique” to reflect the elegance of Arabic penmanship in solid wood—forever transforming how Islamic calligraphy was carved.

By 1970, his original artworks were branded under El Surayya Calligraphy & Furniture, setting the standard for Islamic wooden art across Indonesia.

Second Generation

A Legacy Continued

In 2017, H.A. Mudzakir’s vision was passed on to his son, M. Fuad Hasyim. Under the company CV. Lingkup Semesta Jaya, El Surayya Art continues to create refined, soulful art for homes, mosques, and collectors—carved by hand, guided by tradition.
